In vivo pharmacokinetics (PK)
Pharmacokinetics (PK) tests are carried out to understand an API’s effectiveness and safety.
The assays investigate the API’s absorption, biodistribution, metabolism and excretion, which can help identify the appropriate dose and distribution.
Assessing in vivo pharmacokinetics in animal models, such as rodent species and NHP, reveals the API’s interaction with the body, and the intensity and duration of efficacy.
Data from PK assays also help select dosage for preclinical and clinical studies. This test uses Phoenix WinNonlin for data processing and reporting.
