Screening pharmacokinetics (fast PK)
Screening pharmacokinetics (Fast PK) is a rapid approach to increasing pharmacokinetic data in preclinical trials.
Efficiency in evaluating PK parameters in early drug development allows for not only fewer animals, but the same animals to be used. Toxicity/efficacy studies are optimized and more compliant with 3R principles.
Studies have indicated that PK parameters from Fast PK – delivered ≤5 days of dosing – were comparable to that obtained from conventional PK methods.
