Model: Orthotopic tumor
Orthotopic tumor modeling allows for monitoring of tumor progression by tumor implantation into disease relevant organs into animal models, including intravenous injection of hematological malignancies. The micro-environment of the tissue-specific model allows for tumor-stromal interactions that more closely mirror the human disease process. Optical imaging techniques – such as bioluminescence imaging (BLI) – enhance the use of preclinical orthotopic models by visualizing the tumor and metastases.
