OECD 441: Hershberger assay
The OECD 441: Hershberger Assay in rats is designed to measure the capabilities of androgen-interfering chemicals in rodent populations. Over a 10-day period, drugs are administered orally or subcutaneously to castrated male rats. Following this, five androgen-dependent tissues are weighed during necropsy and weight differences are determined in order to assess the androgen-agonistic or -antagonistic properties of a test substance.
