Cannulation: Bladder
An integral part of metabolic studies, collecting urine with bladder cannulation enables researchers to measure the excretion of various biochemical compounds.
Techniques and equipment are specific to species as anatomies differ; however, the overall concept remains the same. A thin flexible tube is inserted into the bladder through the ureter, and the urine is aspirated at regular intervals, allowing both urine volume and metabolic content to be measured.
