OECD 501: Metabolism in crops
The OECD 501: Metabolism in crops study tracks the metabolic and degradation pathways of an active ingredient after direct or indirect application of pesticide. Products are radiolabeled, typically with isotope 14C, and applied as they would be in a non-test setting, typically in soil treated with the test substance. From there, different components of the plant are tested to determine total residues, assess any transformations that may occur in the substance and establish a degradation pathway for a product.
