OECD 412: Inhalation toxicity study (subacute, 28-day)
OECD 412 is a validated test designed to fully characterize chemical toxicity via inhalation following repeated exposure over 28 days, and to provide data for quantitative inhalation risk assessments. Animals are generally exposed five days per week (but seven days is also possible). Groups of at least five male and five female rodents are exposed for six hours per day for 28 days to the test chemical at three or more concentration levels, which is compared with filtered air (a negative control) and/or the vehicle (a vehicle control).
